Sink into the womb of now

At times, our reference points will be taken away, revealing a shimmering, pregnant, endarkened void. What we were so clear about just a few days ago is nowhere to be found. The relationship we thought would be there forever, the creativity in our work, inspiration in our spiritual lives, our deepest insights and realizations – recycled in the activity of the vast, somehow no longer reachable.

The solid ground we once took refuge in has disintegrated underneath us, sending us into unknown territory. We were so sure we were beyond breaking yet again, that we had finished with all that, but the beloved is not interested in maintaining the status quo. It is the nature of all form to disintegrate, so that new forms may emerge.

Between the worlds, burning up, longing for an end to the contradictions. We have found ourselves in the liminal, but how do we rest there? Where is the healing, the transcendence, the resolution? How could we be asked to surrender more?

It can seem that we are falling apart, but were we ever together to begin with? Is that even the right lens from which to attempt navigation? Or were we always something more more whole, more majestic than all that?

Slow way down. Breathe deeply from the lower belly. Feel your feet in the mud of the earth. Sink into the womb of now. For just this moment, set aside the need to understand, to figure it all out, or to replace this moment with another. Today may not be the day for answers, but to let your heart break open to the vastness of the question.

Look up into the new spring sky. Something is longing to be born, in you, as you, as the poetry of your life and as the gifts you will share with others. Lay your hands on your heart. Listen. Receive. There are blues coming into existence that have never made their way into this dimension. Oranges, reds, yellows, and purples that have been sent to remind you of the rarity and outrageousness of one human heart.

Stay right here. Don’t move from this moment. Open your senses. Step into the mystery. See through the veil. Everything that has ever happened and everyone you have ever met, has led up to right here and right now. Trust in the fires of disintegration and renewal, and in the timeline that is written within the cells of your heart.

Burn until you are translucent

Confusion is not pathology, it is path. It has something to show us that clarity could never reveal. The nature of chaos is wisdom, but we must provide sanctuary to receive its essence. For this revelation will only release into an environment of a fiery, attuned kindness.

The feeling of disconnection is not neurotic, it is intelligent. It has something to show us that oneness could never reveal. Travel inside the felt sense and into the hidden passageways. And you will find the emissaries awaiting. The allies of multiplicity are not at war with oneness, but fellow travelers with them on a journey of wholeness.

We are neither “separate” nor “one,” but the erupting holding field in which the energies of “separate” and “one” interpenetrate and dance the relative into being. While we may have a bias for oneness over multiplicity, it would appear that love does not share this bias and is ready at all times to employ either equally as its envoy here.

Our loneliness, rawness, broken-openness, and fear are not mistakes. This shaky vulnerability is not pathology, it is path. In this place, there are no “obstacles,” only endless invitations.

The freedom we are longing for will never be found in the eradication of the unwanted, but only in attunement to the love and the information it carries.

Yes, at times the burning can appear unbearable. Such is the nature of the human heart. You may burn until you are translucent, but it is by way of this burning that wholeness is revealed.

A holding beyond healing

When sitting with a friend in pain, it may not be the moment to provide answers, but to hold them as you confront the vastness of the question together.

To take the risk to see that they are not a project to be solved, but a mystery making its way into form.

At times, there is no apparent solution, but only raw, naked life… the full-spectrum of what it means to be an open, sensitive, vulnerable human being.

At times, the invitation is to set the advice aside, the great teachings and perspectives and the urgent need to fix, cure, heal, improve, and make better. Not because any of this is wrong, but just so you can listen with the entirety of soul.

Care for them, hold their hand, make them some tea… bear witness to their stories, their feelings, what keeps them up at night and what gives them meaning. Be curious. Walk with them into the fire of their immediate experience, trusting in its validity and intelligence.

Even in the midst of suffering and confusion, they are vast and contain multitudes.
