Never underestimate the power of love

You want to give joy, happiness, and peace to those around you. It is so natural to want to uplift the others in your life. But perhaps the greatest gift you can provide is sanctuary and safe passage for the unmet within you. For it is out of profound self-attunement that empathy, resonance, and skillful action will flow.

When you are in intimate, attuned contact with your own grief, loneliness, heartbreak, and confusion, a holding field emerges in the space between. By way of empathic mirroring, the other is granted cosmic permission to contain, integrate, and practice kindness toward those unresolved qualities in themselves.

As the unwanted is metabolized somatically, emotionally, and at the level of felt sense, you can start to make meaning, together, of the journey of a shaky, sensitive human being, longing for aliveness and connection. Longing for your own presence.

As the metabolization occurs, the actions you take will no longer be organized around getting you out of your surging vulnerability. You will respond much slower – from the here and now, not the there and then - with the tenderness not as an enemy, but as your ally and inner wisdom guide. Together, we can take a vow to no longer pathologize the expression of our sensitivity and vulnerability, and for the ways we are making meaning of a weary, tender world.

Never underestimate the affect you have on another… when you listen to them, without an agenda to take them out of their immediate experience. When you hold and care for them. In your curiosity about the way they are making meaning of their experience, and in providing validation for the cascading feelings that are pouring through them.

To see, with them, that none of this is an obstacle on the path, but is the very path itself. For this is the same love that keeps the stars from falling out of the sky.
