Love as the harbinger of the unknown

We want love to feel safe, but that is not why it has come – for love transforms everything it makes contact with. This is its nature – to transmute what it touches. Though it may seem otherwise, it is not actually safety, security, and ground that we’re after, but to know the totality of what we are. Love is the harbinger of the unknown, which we are simultaneously attracted to and terrified of, as the pure intelligence and creativity there can be overwhelming. We know that it will change everything. Ultimately, we come to see that to choose love is to choose death, the death of everything that is less-than-whole within us. While it is not actually possible to choose our own death, we need not worry for love is always choosing us.
