Listening to the rainfall of grace
In one moment of allowing everything to fall apart, of no longer holding back or hiding out, of turning directly into the groundless and uncertain reality of this one-and-only life, grace pours down through the cells of our body and washes away every barrier that there could ever be to the unimpeded flow of love in this world. Our bodies, our minds, our hearts, our senses, our organs, tossed and turned like a pineapple upside down cake, slathered with grace-frosting, revealing the tender sweetness of an unknown, undefended, and unprotected life.
It is finally so clear: Grace is not something that comes to us, something that we pray for or seek, but is the very substance of each and every cell of the heart beating in the center of our chest. Let us see and behold the miracle of this life as we breathe out of the heart, see out through the heart, touch another through the heart, speak sweet and kind words to another through the heart, risk everything for this heart to touch and be touched by another, and listen through the heart to the rainfall of grace as it drips out of the center this Universe, in some unknown way keeping the sun, moon, planets, stars, and galaxies from falling out of the sky.
